Yet another beautiful day! Literacy is more than just paper and pencil in play-based learning. We learn language in all sorts of settings. We do our morning exercises and stretching while learning about body position and parts of the body (in French). Letter practice was done through peer teaching today. Our SK's taught their JK buddies how to form an uppercase "A". They were great teachers and students. Finding letters in the sand, building with letters, finger painting our name, manipulating magnetic letters, sorting letter (tall, short, round, etc...), drawing in the sand, stencils, journal pictures, playing outdoor games, finding insects, songs, and poems are just some examples of learning language through play.

Our "Étoile de la semaine" did a fantastic job with his presentation. All of his main sentences were in French! Ça c'est fantastique ! The children were so attentive when listening too. Bravo !
Housekeeping...
Thank you so much for keeping home toys at home. This makes transitioning to our bus stops so much easier. We have only had a couple of incidents where children have brought in home toys and have been quite upset at the end of the day when they cannot find them. We understand that children like to bring in their own toys, but our yard is so large and our room has many toys that they can easier get misplaced. Getting 30 children ready at the end of the day and having to look for one lost toy can make for an unpleasant dismissal. We like to have the children leave happy. Thank you so much for your understanding.
Thank you for labelling your child's clothing too! This has been very helpful.
Please send in your trip forms. We have contacted all of our parent-volunteers for this trip. We will be having a few more trip this year where you will have another opportunities to join us.
We will be having Pottery-to-Go come to the kindergarten classes again this year. We try to keep the pottery artwork that you child will be creating under $10.00. They will be coming in on November 4th. We will keep you posted as to the amount for this activity. If you are able to assist in the classroom on this day, please send us an email. We would love to have parents join us.
Scientists in the School will be coming as well this fall. Mighty Machines is the theme. They are scheduled to come on November 15th. We would love to have some volunteers to help us out with this event too. If you are able to come to school for this activity, please send us an email. There is no cost to this event thanks to FAH School Council. Merci !
Have a great night. Bonne nuit !
