The layer of fresh snow covered the trees, adding beauty and a new dimension to our forest explorations. We compared deciduous trees that have dropped all their leaves with coniferous trees that will keep their needles throughout the winter. We followed animal tracks and listened for the sound of birds. We noticed ice forming at the edge of the creek and threw stones in the Frog Pond. The children not only observed nature with their eyes, but really engaged in the winter wonderland with all of their senses.
