The experiences that children are exposed to help them develop their creative thinking skills. The activities that they engage in, the pictures that they draw, and the new ideas that their teachers, learning buddies, school, peers, and especially families expose them to all play a big part.
This week, we noticed that many of the children were interested in created various types of books and sharing them with the class. During our literacy time, focus was placed on sentence structures using a handout where the children chose a noun (animal) to start their sentence, a verb (an action word) for the middle, and another noun to end their sentence. The children then created illustrations explaining their sentences. Most of our sentences were silly (e.g., Le papillon plante un lit. (The butterfly is planting a bed.)), but they were engaging and fun to create and share with the class.
Carnaval was a huge hit on Friday! Since there was not a lot of snow, staff created activities both inside and outside. There were outdoor games, such as mini sticks, soccer, and chalk painting, and indoor activities such as board games, Bonhomme Carnaval paper bag puppet, face painting, tug-a-war, and hot chocolate. It was a very active and fun day!
After March Break, we would love to have volunteers to help us with Scientists in the School. We will have a scientist come into our classroom and have centres set up to learn about simple machines. If you would like to come in on March 23rd in the morning to help, please send us a email.
March 23rd is also the FAH Spaghetti Dinner! Please consider buying tickets for this fundraising event!
Have a wonderful March Break!
