We worked together to carry the heavy pumpkins to the edge of the forest where a steep hill leads down to the Hanlon Creek trail system. The children loved rolling the pumpkins down the slope! They took turns carrying the pumpkins back up the hill for their friends to take a turn pushing. “Pumpkin Bowling” was fantastic fun!
In late fall, many animals in our forest are eating or storing more food in preparation for the winter ahead when food is scarce. Over subsequent days, we noticed that our pumpkins have been nibbled by creatures. The children were thrilled to think that we had helped our forest friends get ready for winter!
