Sorry for the long delay in blogging. We have been extremely busy as of late. We did find a new photo collage application that seems to make photos simple to create and view. We have so many photos of activities that have been happening in the classroom. Here is the long awaited photos from Pottery-to-go. The children are so artistic! They learnt the importance of taking care of our painting brushes, how to make a pattern, the process of glazing and firing, as well as how to work cooperatively in groups. Merci encore une fois to parents who helped with this activity! We cannot do these things without your support!
We have been on many adventures in the forest and have been learning all about different types of trees, mushrooms, milkweed, and why it is warmer in the dense treed area compared to the open field area. We learnt how milkweed attaches itself to our clothing and animal fur to carry the seeds all around the neighbourhood. We have spotted many bird's nest that are very visible in the trees now that the leaves are gone. Many branches have been brought back to class and examined closely. The children have noticed that there are holes throughout some of our branches. I wonder what made those holes? What fun it has been to paint the branches too!
Scientist in the School was another great success! Parents-again, we could not have done this without you! MERCI ! We loved this idea so much that we are planning to have monthly activities where parents can join in and run a centre. What a great way to be involved with the class and have fun too! If you have any expertise that you would like to share with the class, please let us know.
The children have been bringing delicious lunches. There are a few recipes that we would love to have! Sometimes we get bored with eating the same things. We are actually thinking of having a recipe area to our website so we can add your tried and true recipes. MIAM ! We will also be having a vegetable and fruit day again this year. Last year we asked parents to donate a fruit or vegetable and we made 3 types of soup, baked veggies, and fruit salad. The children loved this activity and the soup! We will keep you posted.
Please keep sending in your recyclable items. The children love to create robots, boats, and many other interesting things. If you have loose parts to donate: nuts and bolts, drawer pulls, spools, wine corks, etc... please send these items in too. Logs? If you have a small log that you can slice into discs, we'd love those too. MERCI !
We are having so much fun! What a great group of children.
Bonne nuit ! Mme McMillan et Mme Tipler
