We ventured through the "Trou magique" and found all kinds of interesting and wonderful things. Milkweed is in abundance and we were able to witness the changes to the milkweed pod. Some pods were dripping with "milk", some were not quick mature yet, and others were filled with seeds and silk almost ready to be taken by the wind. We also found a lot of goldenrod! The children learned how important milkweed is to the monarch butterflies and goldenrod to the honey bees.
We also found a few critters who had unhappy endings (a mouse, a frog, and a worm), which lead us to the circle of life. We also learned not to touch them as they carry germs that could make us quite sick.
Walking through the conversation area is always a great way to meet people in our community. Quite often we meet up with dog walkers and elderly people who enjoy engaging our group in conversation. These are great learning opportunities for all!
During Discovery Play, a small group decided that they wanted to play outside. After taking a vote on where to play, we headed to the "bumpy slide park". We learned street safety as we walked hand-in-hand and two-by-two down the side walk and across the street. Not only do we have to look with our eyes to see if any cars are coming, we have to really listen with our ears too!
In music, we are learning about rhythm, the sound instruments make when played on different surfaces, and how important it is to make music that has a purpose.
Can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring!
Bonne nuit !
