The first snowfall brought a lot of joy and excitement to the children! It is always so much fun when we can build and play in the snow, and watch it melt in the water. We learned that when the temperature is close to 0'C, the snow is sticky, allowing us to make snowballs and snowmen.
We observed that half of the yard still had snow today, where the other half the snow had melted. After thinking about it for a bit, we decided that this has to do with the position of the sun. Homework tonight (for one group of children) was to observe whether they had snow in the front or back of their homes and report back tomorrow.
Always fun to learn new letters. We have been learning about the letter Ee! This is one of our special letters that we find in our vowel song. We all have at least one vowel in our name.
Following directions is a new explicit focus for the students. When we follow directions we are being attentive listeners (eyes on the speaker, ears listening to the speaker, and calm bodies), following the normal routines of the classroom, looking for cues if we forget, and staying focused on the task. We know that when we are on the walking path in the forest we are to move to the right if we see a walker or cyclist, when we are walking along the sidewalk close to the road, we are to stay on the sidewalk, stay hand-to-hand, eyes are up, and we walk calmly. Following directions help us stay safe and allows us to move quickly from one activity to another, which means more fun for everyone!!!!
Have a wonderful afternoon!
