When the children bake, not only are they creating a treat at the end of the day, but they are learning:
-social skills - through cooperation and a sense of community,
-science skills - as they watch chemical reactions and see liquid turn to solid,
-math skills - such as, quantity, greater than and less than, ordinal numbers, number recognition,
-literacy skills - as we read what ingredient we need next, and
-physical education and health skills - fine motor skills through mixing and pouring, and by ensuring that we keep our hands and working area clean.
Thank you to one of our parents who came in and did a fantastic presentation about Chinese New Year! The presentation was entirely in French and the children were able to follow along quite nicely. Some of the children created Chinese lanterns to decorate the classroom.
We welcome parents or grandparents to come in and share traditions with our class! Please just send us an email or note and we will gladly have you in our classroom.
We will also be celebrating 100 days of school on February 12th. - If you have the time, please have your child bring in a bag or artwork with 100 objects (e.g., 100 paperclips, 100 cards, 100 marbles, 100 cheerios, 100 dots on a page, etc...). Count out the objects in by ones, twos, groups of fives, or tens.
