It is very cold and windy on the yard so please remember to dress your child in layers. Sending extra mittens is also a very good idea, as they can get very wet. Remember to allow your child to practice zipping up zippers. They are doing a fantastic job changing out of or into outdoor clothing. We do this 6 times per day! We have been talking about what it means to be responsible at school and at home. Examples that the children gave are: brushing your teeth, cleaning up after yourself, putting garbage in the garbage can, washing hands, taking a bath, hanging up their things, pushing in chairs, doing the dishes, and helping to feed their baby brother or sister.
Today we talked about fairy tales and how new stories can be created using familiar stories and changing parts. Mme Hillen's group reenacted Goldy Locks and the Three Bears, while Mme Tipler's group read 2 variations of this book. We have also began reading a play entitled, "La poule Maboule". It is similar to "Chicken Little", where Chicken Little thinks the skies is falling because an acorn fell on his head.
