It has been a very busy and exciting week. We started back on the right foot reviewing classroom and school procedures, particularly on walking quietly down the hallways, quietly organizing ourselves for recess, and remembering lunch time etiquette. We introduced a quiet reading area that the children have been truly enjoying. Merci Mme Painchaud for the comfy, blue chair.
Letter recognition was a big focus this week, along with practicing our play, La poule Maboule. The children wanted to make puppets to reenact the play, so we dug into our supply of socks, googly eyes, and such to create some pretty funky characters. Mme Hillen’s group focused on the creation of characters and made elaborate paper bag puppets and today they created masks.
Thursday was a big science day. We were so busy that we didn’t have time for photos. It was an afternoon of explosions: exploding diapers, mini volcanoes, elephant toothpaste, popcorn, and exploding fruit (smoothies).
In a bag of clothing brought from home, we found some white t-shirts and decided to create designs with permanent marker sprayed with rubbing alcohol. The children really enjoyed this activity. If you have extra white shirts, please send them in with your child so they can create their own “tie-dyed” shirt.
Next week we would like to make a fruit salad and vegetable soup. If you could kindly send in some fruits and vegetables (labeled “For Thursday”) that would be great! We plan on baking bread, making soup, and salad on Thursday, March 28th. We will prepare everything on Wednesday, so we can start the crock-pots early Thursday morning.
Have an awesome weekend! Hopefully we will get some sun!
