Mme Tipler's group read, Pete the Cat Rocking in my School Shoes. We learned about different places Pete likes to frequent in his school (la salle de classe, la cour d'école, la bibliothèque). The children created pages to add to our very own "Pete le chat" book.
Building seemed to be the main activity today during free play, along with watching the effects of water on wood that we carried from the forest.
We have been reminding the children that it is important to keep our hands to ourself and to treat our friends with respect, as well as the importance of les mots magiques (e.g. S'il vous plaît, Merci, Excusez-moi).

If you would like to assist with the Scholastic Book Sale on May 8, 9, & 10, please send us an email from the contact page or speak to us directly at school. :)
On April 25th, we have invited Scientists in the School. If you would like to help out with this morning of science, please send us an email or speak with us directly at school.
In May, we will be sending a page home with more information about our May Pottery-To-Go craft. We will be painting a butterfly which lends itself well to the concept of symmetry in math and life cycles in science. Soon we will receive our shipment of Painted Lady caterpillars and watch them magically turn into butterflies.
The UGDSB Kindergarten Consultant has asked us to speak about play-based learning at the Full Day Kindergarten seminars this month. Therefore, we will be away one full day (April 17th) and 2 additional half days (April 18th & 24th). We are fortunate to have supply teachers that have already been in our class so the children should feel quite comfortable on the days we are away. Mme Tipler will also be away at meetings April 16th & May 2nd.
Marissa, a high school student, will be volunteering in the classroom as part of her co-op program. She is excited to be with us and is considering a career as an Early Childhood Educator. Welcome, Marissa!
We know that April showers bring May flowers, but it would be so nice to see some sun too!
Have a great night!
