After learning about Goldsworthy and his techniques with our Science Buddies from Mme Hartman’s class, we ventured outside to create our own Andy Goldsworthy-inspired art. The students from both classes worked together to gather leaves, branches, and other natural materials. Cooperatively and with amazing focus and perseverance, the children created wonderful leaf arrangements, spirals, and patterns.
Like Goldsworthy’s creations, the students recognized with slight disappointment that their own art pieces would be non-permanent in nature. We took lots of pictures! They noticed that the advantage of making art outside, however, was that clean-up at the end was minimal!
